Responsible for monitoring, maintaining and verifying reliability for all compression systems across the Uplink facilities. Ensures systems are available and redundant using available tools, must be able to troubleshoot complex systems in the event of any failures. Must be able to create workflow documents and follow SOPs when presented with any and all tasks. Works under minimal supervision, and regularly drives tasks and communications with other work areas and departments. May train new employees on SOPs and general department/role knowledge.

Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

General Departmental Expectations
  • Complete knowledge of signal flow, with a deep understanding of how compression relates to other departments and the larger uplink system.
  • Complete knowledge of department operational procedures, recommends procedural changes, and will initiate and drive that change.
  • Maintains a specific self-development plan and proactively drives development plan through their supervisor/manager, to continuously grow in position and work towards career goals both within and beyond the compression department.
  • Tasks may range from basic audits to more complex system configuration change plans and small collaborative projects.

Daily Tasks
  • Performs logical and physical walk through daily to confirm redundancy and functionality of the system.
  • Creates maintenance tickets to correct issues found during shift.
  • Review of procedural documentation to ensure accuracy, drive any necessary modification.
  • Creates and presents shift documentation, to include providing data, explanation, and interpretation for work performed, or system events.
  • Small complex projects, under general supervision or engineering support.

Outage Response:
  • Monitors alarming alerts and responds with issues explained and planned maintenance to correct issues.
  • Answers radio call outs, email and/or hotline escalations.
  • All outage callouts are dealt with immediately.
  • Tier 2 troubleshooting extends to gathering captures and logs of equipment of Compression Video Systems.
  • Opening tickets with Vendors for further analysis.

Maintenance Activities:
  • Plans and completes preventative maintenance.
  • Implementation of new systems and changes to existing systems in support of projects.

Team Attitude:
  • Works with other departments to solve problems with video quality, encryption or transmission problems.
  • Drives positive and collaborative work through others.
  • Will collaborate with other departments on tasks and projects.
  • May train new employees, and acts as a mentor to peers.
  • Works with those in the Compression department under limited supervision. Completes unfamiliar tasks under general supervision
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements:
  • Perform work under limited supervision.
  • Ability to take action based on previous experience and knowledge of Compression procedures to contribute to the completion of complex tasks.
  • Ability to use high levels of persuasion and influence to drive business results.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., to install or remove from various rack locations from below knee level to above head.
  • Ability to work on and monitor any system, regardless of content matter.
  • 24x7 Team available to work all shifts

Qualifications:3-9+ years of progressively related experience.
