About the role Partner closely with the Director of Development and Construction and the Director of Store Design to coordinate and supervisor all aspects of new shopping centers, tenant improvement construction, grocery store remodels, and retail improvement projects. This is an exciting new opportunity for someone to join a fun, welcoming, and close-knit team of 10. In addition to our 26 Dierbergs Market grocery store locations, our Real Estate team leases and manages several of the surrounding retail properties within the Dierbergs anchored Shopping Centers.   • Partner closely with the Real Estate team to assist in planning, leading, and executing both large and small projects, tasks and/or improvements in the retail portfolio
  • Conduct regular, detailed project management meetings with the Real Estate team to ensure project budgets are completely understood and the plans that are developed for new store construction, tenant improvement construction and grocery store remodel projects are developed within the framework of the budget
  • Ensure invoices are approved and submitted in a timely manner; coordinate with the Finance department to confirm proper classification of costs and assets for each project
  • Schedule and create milestones for construction projects, including tenant and grocery store remodels and ground-up construction, using Microsoft Project
  • Observe and inspect construction and remodels to ensure adherence to specifications, codes, and contract documents
  • Solves problems in all types of situations and challenges within a project, utilizing exceptional communication skills to keep all interested parties informed, with problems resolved in a timely and successful manner
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers by providing timely and accurate information
  • Work closely with the Real Estate team in accomplishing many of the above responsibilities; does so in a way that fosters teamwork
  • Keeps confidential all information learned in daily job functions pertaining to the company and its personnel
  • Additional job duties, responsibilities, and projects as deemed necessary

Experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction management; multi-unit retail shopping center environment preferred.
  • Previous work or project experience in shopping center planning, engineering, or construction, and proficiency in CAD a plus
Education
  • BS or BA required; preferably in construction management or related field
