The Department of Management and Marketing in the College of Business at the University of Wyoming invites applications for a tenure-track position, rank open, in the area of entrepreneurship or strategic management beginning Fall 2020. The person who fills this position will be expected to contribute to the department in multiple ways. First, they should contribute to the strong teaching reputation of the department’s faculty. The primary teaching responsibility will be the capstone strategy course. Further, they will be expected to conduct high-quality peer-reviewed research that is published in leading journals, in addition to other high-quality scholarly work, and, thus, contribute to the growing research culture of the department. We have a preference for scholars active in the area of entrepreneurship, which is an emergent area of focus for the department and university as a whole, but will consider strong applicants from strategy and other areas of management. Finally, they will be expected to support related student activities, in addition to other institutional and professional service responsibilities. As such, the ideal candidate is a well-rounded academic who has interest in helping the college continue to build a strong reputation. The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $145,000.

The College of Business

The University of Wyoming College of Business (http://www.uwyo.edu/business/) is AACSB accredited and is located in a state-of-the-art LEED certified building. The College currently offers undergraduate degrees in entrepreneurship, management of human resources, marketing, professional sales, accounting, finance, economics, and business administration. The College offers asters of business administration degrees, Masters degrees in accounting, economics, and finance, and Ph.D. degrees in marketing and economics. It is one of 11 member schools of the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative College Program. The college has recently undertaken several major initiatives including the creation of the Student Success Center, the Center for Professional Selling, and a campus-wide entrepreneurship program. The college hosts an annual entrepreneurship summit each year alongside an entrepreneurship competition with cash prizes totaling $50,000. The goal of this program is to instill an entrepreneurial mindset in our students through education about best practices, resources provided to help them succeed, and mentorship to show them what is possible. Moreover, the college recently completed a new strategic plan with goals to advance world-class research, integrate more experiential learning, engage in more stakeholder outreach, expand global connections, and grow online offerings.

The Department of Management and Marketing comprises faculty of management, entrepreneurship, marketing, sales, decision sciences, business law, and business ethics. The management and entrepreneurship faculty have published in high-quality journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Small Business Economics, Journal of Small Business Management, Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Leadership Quarterly and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in management with emphasis in entrepreneurship, strategic management or a closely related discipline. Interested candidates who are ABD must have completed their dissertation on or before August 24, 2020. Evidence of the ability to publish in highly-ranked journals and develop a robust stream of research. Evidence of high-quality teaching ability. A record of quality citizenship at prior institutions. Candidates seeking advance rank should have research, teaching, and service records commensurate with such rank for a Carnegie Classified R2 university.

Desired Qualifications

A demonstrated record of research publication in high-quality journals such as those listed on the Financial Times 50 list, UT Dallas journal list, or the Association of Business School’s journal list. An excellent teaching record. A strong service record including evidence of the ability to effectively contribute to college strategic initiatives.
