IDEAL CANDIDATES:MCBS Project:The MCBS is a study to learn more about people who use Medicare, in order for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and researchers to learn more about Medicare beneficiaries their health care experiences. The MCBS has been conducted since 1991 because the information you provide about your health and health care costs is so valuable. CMS, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, oversees Medicare and sponsors this survey in order to gain valuable information from you about how Medicare is administered. This study is the only source of such in-depth health care cost and use, which are used to accomplish the following:To help us understand how Medicare affects beneficiaries’ daily life, and what problems they might be experiencing with it.

To help increase Medicare coverage and efficiency for beneficiaries, both now and in the future.

To provide legislators and policy makers with more information to create effective laws and regulations for people enrolled in Medicare. In fact, the Part D prescription drug benefit was created in part based on findings from the MCBS.

To improve the quality-of-care Medicare beneficiaries receive.

To create reports using data collected to describe key factors about how people use Medicare.

As an interviewer, you will ask you questions about the health care services, opinions about those services, and how much they cost. Interviewers will be required to work extensively with supporting healthcare documentation provided by the respondents to extract and enter appropriate information for the questionnaire. You will be trained on these specific skills. In the future, interviewers will be required to conduct physical measurements, e.g. height, weight, ability to walk 10 feet unassisted, grip strength, etc. To ensure consistent performance of these measures, interviewers will be trained on these measures and will need to demonstrate as needed for respondents to conduct them properly.You can read more about Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS) at: https://mcbs.norc.org/What we look for in a Field Interviewer.We are looking for outgoing and engaging people who have a background conducting field interviews, collecting data, medical billing, providing customer service, working in restaurants, retail stores, or any type of sales positions, and/or other public facing employment. You will be instrumental in helping NORC make sure our study participants’ voices are heard.NORC is an objective, nonpartisan research organization that delivers insights and analysis decision-makers trust. We are passionate about giving people a chance to share their opinions and experiences so that our clients and the public can be informed and make decisions based on the highest quality data we can provide. NORC’s field interviewing team makes this possible. As a Field Interviewer, you will call and visit people at their place of residence, introduce them to NORC and the study you are assigned to, and then complete an interview with them. Some of these people will have experiences and opinions similar to your own. Others will have different perspectives. By giving each person a chance to participate, being a careful listener, and applying the interviewing techniques you will learn in training, you will help make sure the data we collect from each person is accurate. As you give people a chance to be heard, it will give you a sense of pride and achievement in knowing that the work you do for NORC contributes to our high standards for quality and objectivity for which we are known in the research industry.Employees will receive a $200 sign-on bonus after providing proof of full vaccination against COVID. Following two months of active service you will also receive an extra 6 hours of pay as part of NORC’s floating holiday benefit. Employees will also receive a $45 monthly gas stipend.TRAINING AND WORK SCHEDULES:NORC will provide online paid training to ensure you have the tools you need to be a successful Field Interviewer. Once training has been completed, you will start interviews and data collection. Training will start the week of July 11, 2022Work is part-time, and flexible.Field interviewers can expect consistent work on MCBS when they meet all efficiency, response rate, and quality standards. Generally, you will work 20-25 hours per week. The most effective interviewers devote 4-6 hours to NORC on the days they work. If you can meet the expectations of this timetable, then you can set your own schedule.After training in July, there will be another training in September. For this round of data collection, the work will continue through December 2022. Another round of the MCBS project begins in January 2023. Project duration is often contingent upon current case load levels. MCBS is a year around study consisting of three rounds. Those who are successful may also be considered to work on other studies.REQUIREMENTS FOR FIELD INTERVIEWERS:NORC will require proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 before you begin work in the field.Present evidence of identity and authorization to work in the United States (I-9 documentation).Have a valid driver’s license with unlimited use of an automobile in working condition, and present proof of auto liability insurance.
