As a Systems Engineer, you will perform and deliver tasks related to installation, configuration, and removal of networking equipment at client-based facilities, use qualitative and quantitative analytic and problem solving skills and has organizational skills. Clients also will require your expertise and guidance during project planning and go-lives related to network support. Additional expertise may be called upon on other project activities that require networking details. If you are an experienced network engineer, we are looking for you.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Design & architecture. Understands basic network design, architecture, and layers of the OSI model.
Routing &switching. Understands and can configure, deploy, monitor and troubleshoot switches and routers.
Firewalls. Understands and can configure, deploy, monitor and troubleshoot firewalls.
Wireless networking. Understands and can configure, deploy, monitor and troubleshoot access points, controllers, and end-user devices.
Data center / IDF. Understands and is able to deploy, monitor and troubleshoot fiber interconnects, low-voltage cabling and UPS systems.
Possess expertise in the assigned technology domain.
Manage, maintain, monitor and support the infrastructure environment in the assigned technology domain.
Install, configure and support hardware and software required to operate assigned technology.
Provide ongoing maintenance including updates, patches, and anti-virus updates.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in assigned technology including hardware, software, operating system and application-related issues.
Develop and maintain documentation related to technology installation, administration, and maintenance.
Process routine change requests and work orders
Perform data analysis/trending on the network and applications as required
Develop and distribute notifications for outages, progress and summaries of actions as directed
Provide Citrix Xen Server/Xen App Support
Understands and can configure Firewall/Switches and Routers through command line
Understands and can configure SAN/NAS creating LUNS and Storage repositories
Requirements
Must be willing to undergo a background check
Minimum of 3 years for the following:
Network engineering design and implementation
OSPF, BGP touting protocols, VOIP and QoS
Configuring and managing Cisco ASA/Fortinet Firewalls.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in telecommunication, internet or network operation center environments
Experience with LAN/WAN security architectures, frameworks and components
Experience with VMWARE/Citrix Xen Server/Hyper V Virtual Technologies
Intermediate knowledge of network protocols, software applications, and operating support systems.
Ability to write technical reports and communicate technical content to non-technical audiences
The ability to interact with users, IT professionals and team members
The ability to apply technical skills to resolve incidents while understanding when it is necessary and/or appropriate to escalate to a more experienced resource
Can work varied times and support clients through transitions, upgrades or problems
Can travel as required (for training, meetings or client visits)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
While not required, it is desirable if you have the following:
Current Networking Certification; ITIL Certification.
Previous experience working in ticket management systems/ applications, monitoring network devices and software operating systems.
Education
Bachelor of Science - Computer Science or Management Information Systems
