Job Summary:

As a

Test Engineer, you will help develop Trane Commercial HVAC products in our R&D Laboratory. This position encompasses many functions of laboratory engineering: standard tests development, test planning, test automation systems, instrumentation, and process controls. Your role is responsible for applying experimental methods for product development and validation. The ideal candidate enjoys project management, hands-on laboratory work and problem-solving in a team environment!


Core Job Responsibilities (others may be added):

  • Lead multiple Laboratory product design development and validation test projects.
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert on Laboratory tests for specific lines of HVAC products.
  • Own test data quality.
  • Work closely with both laboratory technicians and design engineers.
  • Own test facilities capability and ensure equipment has the necessary functions and reliability to produce quality data.
  • Develop standard test procedures to drive test efficiency and lab throughput.
  • Develop measurement systems for laboratory testing.
  • Develop expertise onadvanced data acquisition equipment.
  • Design program control for test automation.
  • Primary technical resource for technicians responsible for running test equipment.
  • Develop experimental techniques necessary to drive new technology development.
  • Support Laboratory Excellence process.
  • Some overnight travel, including international (<5%).


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences and at least2 years of product design/development or testing experience is required.

- OR -

  • Master's Degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences is required.


Key Competencies:

  • Must be highly-motivated and a team player.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to think outside of box and demonstrated efficiency improvements in past roles.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is a plus.


Annual Compensation Range is $58,000 to $123,000 annually. Disclaimer: This salary range is based on US national averages. Actual pay could be a result of seniority/experience level, merit and geographic location where the actual work is performed.
