Front Office Assistant

Position Summary

Front Office Assistant is a key position, responsible for the seamless patient entry into the hospital in a timely, efficient, and customer-focused manner. This position will often be the first contact the patient has with the hospital, and the employee will be entrusted with the responsibility of providing a positive first image to the patient/family. In addition to greeting patients, family, vendors, etc., the Front Office Assistant will be responsible for answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, updating and obtaining demographic and insurance information.

Essential Functions

  • Welcoming and greeting all patients and visitors, in person or over the phone
  • Answer the phone while maintaining polite and consistent phone manners.
  • Educate and assist visitors on all safety protocols.
  • Taking messages for various department personnel.
  • Maintains CCMSD operations by following policies and procedures.
  • Register new patients, and update existing patient demographics by collecting detailed information
  • Collect payments when necessary and prepare receipts for payments.
  • Facilitates patient flow, by notifying the providers, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and staff
  • Responds to inquiries by patients, prospective patients, and visitors in a courteous manner
  • Protect patient confidentiality, making sure protected health information is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.
  • Various clerical duties; filing, faxing, scanning documents, organization and upkeep of front office, attend meetings and take notes as directed by immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma/GED

Experience

  • Experience in a clerical position, preferably in a medical setting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance plans is beneficial
  • Must be punctual, accountable and reliable.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data entry systems, various office equipment o Spreadsheets, data entry, internet o Computer, copy machine, fax machine
  • Ability to multitask and maintain strong attention to detail.
  • Compassionate and patient.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Maintains high level of confidentiality at all times.

Hours of Work

  • Monday – Friday, 8AM to 4PM

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
