OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a Sales manager who will oversee the sales team of 3 sales reps and will also manage all event sponsorship sales for 2 mid-sized medical conferences. In addition to the medical conferences, the other sales team members sell advertising and sponsorships for a PubMed medical journal and other medical education programs.

RESPONSBILITIES:

- Oversee and lead sales team of 3 reps

- Develop and implement a sales plan for increasing revenues in a cost-effective manner

- Deliver accurate sales forecasts and benchmarks on a consistent basis

- Manage and conduct all event sponsorship activities - responsible for sponsor prospecting, proposal customization and presentation, contract revision and servicing, sponsor follow-up and support, trade shows’ development, and representing the company at industry functions

- Develop and manage relationships with current and potential companies to maximize customer satisfaction

- Contribute new promotional sponsorship and advertising opportunities to increase saleable inventory

- Initiate contact with new prospects to increase pipeline and promote sales activities

- Meet and exceed established sponsorship goals

- Meet and exceed sales teams established goals

- Coordinate sales activity with the sales team through the database and contribute to the improvement of sales processes

- Collaborate with, or ensure sales rep collaboration with related teams and stakeholders to ensure fulfillment of sales contracts

- Represent sales and sponsorship team for regular management meetings

- Attend competitive trade shows/events for prospecting

- Collaborate with contracted Sales Coach on team member sales coaching

- Duties otherwise assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

- Polished communication skills; written, verbal and presentation skills

- Customer-focused with excellent follow up

- Organized with excellent project management skills

- Highly driven, motivated and results oriented

- Ability to work as part of a team and ability to create and alter processes for improved team efficiency

- Knowledge of the medical communications field, in particular dermatology journals, conferences and medical education programs

- Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PPT, etc.)

- CRM experience (Salesforce.com preferred)

- Ability to travel

- College degree or equivalent years of experience

- 5+ years of related work experience

- At least 3 years of proven sales experience, preferably with conference sponsorship sales

- At least 3 years of proven experience of sales management

- Leadership abilities
