Find your future with us.Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) P-8 Systems Safety team is currently looking for a P-8 Mid-Level System Safety Engineer to join their team in Tukwila, WA.At Boeing, Safety is at the core of everything we do. As a P-8 Mid-Level System Safety Engineer, you will have a unique opportunity to work across the entire life cycle of the P-8 maritime surveillance aircraft, from conceptual development into design and test, production and sustainment of the fielded aircraft. You'll experience the big picture and fascinating complexities of the defense industry while getting hands on experience on the aircraft.The P-8 Systems Safety team executes the Systems Safety effort for the P-8 aircraft including analysis and oversight for basic aircraft functions, as well as owning the design safety activities for the P-8 mission systems. Additionally, the team provides oversight and integration to other related Mission Assurance and Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health disciplines such as P-8 airworthiness, design for Environment, Health and Safety, and the Hazardous Materials Management Program.Position Responsibilities:
- Execute Systems Safety analysis activities
- Identify and mitigate all potential and existing hazards
- Collaborate with Engineering Design Teams while learning all of the aircraft subsystems and their interactions
- Ask tough questions, challenge conventional thinking and bring potential hazards to light for our aircraft and crew
- Assess Engineering documents, data and artifacts, while working with Engineering Teams to determine the safest and most cost effective solutions to actual and potential hazards
- Gather data from field, factory and engineering, calculating probability and severity of possible outcome and work with Design teams to influence a safer more robust system
- Interface with all levels of Engineering and Program Management and Customers
- Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- 3+ years of experience in technical or engineering field
- Experience in Systems Safety and/or Systems Engineering disciplines
- Experience in aviation safety systems engineering
