Find your future with us.The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an Associate Software Systems Safety Engineer (Level 2). The position will be located in either Berkeley or Hazelwood in the Saint Louis, MO area.As a Software System Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for the program Software System Safety Engineering Statement of Work. You will experience the entirety of what Bombers & Fighters have to offer as a major contributor to program success while supporting across the entire product lifecycle, gaining both product and program experience, and knowledge depth and breadth. This is an exciting and great opportunity to work with an experienced team of leaders and professionals. Grow your network while working with the program Integrated Product Team Engineers, Quality Engineering, Production Operations, other program and functional leaders, and the customer by building trust through purposeful collaboration to proactively improve product Safety and reduce risk across the product life cycle.A successful candidate will have 1 or more years of aircraft software design and program / project experience. This position will provide the opportunity to use that experience to help programs execute the Software Systems Safety Engineering statement of work.This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will have the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule, performing work weekly onsite and remotely.Position Responsibilities:
- Detailed requirements, functional thread, system and subsystem hazard, and fault tree analysis, and software safety level of Rigor determination.
- Documentation efforts of hazard analysis and risk assessments (e.g. safety assessment reports, hazard notification, and hazardous material reports).
- Design activities to provide advice and counsel on pertinent regulator and safety requirements, reviewing preliminary configurations, and strengthening integration of hazard risk management practices.
- Evaluation of customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements and derived safety requirements, as well integration of technical parameters to assure compatibility of physical, functional, and software interfaces.
- Work under the leadership of a senior System Safety Engineer.
- Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- 1+ years of experience with aerospace/aviation software requirements, design, and design analysis.
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
- Working knowledge and experience developing/applying aviation related system safety analysis methods such as System Safety Risk Assessments, Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA) and Safety Assessment Report (SAR)
