The Anesthesia Provider devotes his full professional time, attention, and energy to providing Anesthesiology services to patients seeking care at Phelps County Regional Medical Center. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAnesthesia Provider shall be at the premises of the Hospital to provide anesthesia coverage consistent with the surgery schedule.

Provides quality anesthesia care consistent with community standards and those standards of practice required to maintain medical staff membership at Hospital.

Assists in enhancing operational efficiency and maintaining compliance with annual budget projections of the Anesthesia Department.

Retains membership as an allied health professional with Medical Privileges on the Medical Staff of Hospital and fulfill all obligations of such Medical Staff membership.

Actively participates in any and all requirements necessary to obtain and maintain ongoing compliance by Hospital with the standards of The Joint Commission, HCFA, Medicare, and all other regulatory agencies;

Actively participates in the continued development of anesthesia and other Hospital services.

Assists Hospital as requested in providing training and/or continuing education programs to Hospital.

Consults with members of the Hospital Medical Staff on an emergency basis in Anesthesia Provider’s specialty and makes specialized knowledge and skills available to other practitioners practicing at Hospital.

Serves on appropriate committees of Hospital as directed by the Medical Staff or Hospital.

Offers professional and/or educational services to the general public and at Hospital as requested.

EducationGraduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor.Minimum Work ExperienceComplies with one of the following requirements regarding certification eligibility, initial certification, or recertification:

a. Meets criteria 1 and 2 above, and is awaiting initial certification (some states limit this period of time); or

b. Is currently certified by the Council on Certification of Nurses Anesthetists or its predecessor; or

c. Is currently recertified by the Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists.

Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by this institution or state.

Demonstrates current competency in the clinical responsibilities for which the candidate is applying.

Certification/LicensesHolds current state licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Missouri, and complies with any applicable state statutory or regulatory requirements concerning advanced practice registered nursing.

Complies with one of the following requirements regarding certification eligibility, initial certification, or recertification:

a. Meets criteria 1 and 2 above, and is awaiting initial certification (some states limit this period of time); or

b. Is currently certified by the Council on Certification of Nurses Anesthetists or its predecessor; or

c. Is currently recertified by the Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists.

Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by this institution or state.

Demonstrates current competency in the clinical responsibilities for which the candidate is applying.

Certified through the American Heart Association in; BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRPS.

Mental/Physical RequirementsHigh degree of concentration required. Requires intermittent walking and standing, sitting approximately 60% of the work day. Ability to lift and/or support up to 35 lbs.Working ConditionsPotential exposure to infectious disease, disagreeable orders from patients, anesthetics, disinfectants, and/or chemicals. May be subject to controlled radiation exposure. May be subject to call on regular or as-scheduled basis.
