Medical CenterSummary DescriptionThe Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and the Pediatric Heart Failure,Transplant, Cardiomyopathy program of NewYork-Presbyterian / Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in New York City are recruiting a board-certified pediatric cardiologist with training and expertise in Pediatric Heart Failure, Transplantation and Cardiomyopathy to join our growing team. The position is a full-time faculty position at the academic rank of Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics, at Columbia University, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons.The individual must be board-certified in Pediatric Cardiology; have had advanced training in pediatric heart transplantation and have multiple years of experience within the subspecialty of pediatric heart failure, transplantation and cardiomyopathy.The successful candidate will provide care for both inpatients and outpatients at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital and Milstein Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center Campus with heart failure, cardiomyopathies, patients awaiting heart transplantation or who have already undergone heart transplantation. This candidate must have experience caring for and managing critically ill patients including (but not limited to) those with acute/chronic myocarditis; rejection and patients on ventricular assist devices or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) as a bridge to transplant or recovery. Our team of pediatric heart failure and transplantation specialists also provide consultation services at Komansky Children’s Hospital, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital on the Weill Cornell Campus and see outpatients in a Columbia Pediatric Subspecialty Office in White Plains, New York.A successful candidate will be familiar with and readily willing to participate in ongoing teaching and training in regards to new Pediatric Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) therapies as well as in related study protocols and registries related to the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT); the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS); and other national/international multi-institutional registries involving pediatric heart failure, transplant and cardiomyopathy discoveries, outcomes and/or quality/safety topics. This candidate will participate in collaborative and innovative scholarly work so as to meet criteria for promotion along one of the non-tenured, clinical tracks.All of our faculty participate in the education and training of our medical students, house staff and fellows. Faculty in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology regularly teach and interact with Pediatric Cardiology fellows as well as fellows in Pediatric Critical Care and Neonatology. Our Pediatric Heart Failure/Transplant faculty participate on inpatient teaching and patient management rounds on multiple units at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. Again, this candidate shall have experience in the education of other faculty, trainees, nursing, other healthcare staff about the care and management of those with acute and chronic heart failure, transplantation, all types of cardiomyopathies as well as those with congenital heart disease.Minimum Degree RequiredMedical Degree: MD, DO, MBBSMinimum QualificationsBC/BE General Pediatricians; they must meet the requirements to practice clinical medicine in New York State.Preferred QualificationsFellowship training or the equivalent experience is strongly preferred.Additional InformationRAPS posting date
