Job Description
The Avery Dennison Label and Graphic Materials Group North America is looking for an Automation Technician to join our facility in Greenfield, IN. Our plant is a 300-person, 24/7, non-union facility that produces pressure sensitive labeling solutions for the health, hygiene, food and beverage space. This is a night shift support role with a normal start time beginning at 11pm. Additional 24x7 manufacturing support will be needed at times. In this role, you will report to the Technical Manager and provide technical support, continuous improvement, and troubleshooting assistance of all electrical/electronic systems. Your primary responsibilities and essential functions include:
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and other drives/controls trouble-shooting support to manufacturing site.
Develop and maintain drive, controls and SCADA system best practices through collaboration with other process technology teams.
Perform a wide variety of functions such as installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment for generating, distributing, and utilizing electrical energy. Uses instruments to test circuits and replaces or installs new power, light, electronic and control circuits.
Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, inspects circuits and wiring for shielding and grounding, and tests electrical equipment for safety and efficiency.
Repair complex electrical equipment, including motors, switches, switchboards, electrical mechanisms, automated machines, controls, panels, relays, circuit breakers, communication systems and alarms.
Work from schematics, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to locate and diagnose trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
Create and update electrical schematics and drawings.
Interact with Maintenance and Engineering team to ensure equipment reliability.
Identify safety issues, support safety initiatives, and recommend and implement effective solutions.
Provides support for technology upgrade projects to improve product quality and manufacturing effectiveness.
Conduct training of employees for proper machine adjustments and operations
Qualifications
Minimum Education: High school diploma required. Associates degree in a technical, controls, automation, engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
3+ years of experience in controls or electrical engineering function in a manufacturing environment
Kuka Robotics experience a big plus
Experience with AC and DC drive systems
PLCs: Allen Bradley ControlLogix, PLC5.
Drives: Parker Eurotherm, AB Powerflex, Siemens S120
HMI software; Wonderware, Factorytalk View Studio, RSView 32
Data collection systems including Wonderware Historian
Knowledge of Safety PLC and associated hardware
High-energy, self-directed, self-starter
Ability to provide support to operations with minimal supervision
Good verbal and written communication skills among all levels of the organization
Hands-on ability to work through symptoms and get to root cause
Experience in troubleshooting equipment and process issues
Ability to understand and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic and make system edits as needed
AutoCAD experience a plus
