The primary purpose of this position is to operate a cash register scanning system to check out items and to receive payment for purchases made in a DeCA commissary. Position responsibilities include: Operating an electronic checkout system, making change, and verifying the change fund and amount of currency received during an assigned shift. Managing change machines and ensuring proper amounts of cash and coins are available. Assisting customers by answering questions concerning prices, identification, and location of items. Counting cash and negotiable instruments to prepare an accountability report. Managing the self-checkout registers assisting customers in the correct processing of their purchases. Changing register tape, and clearing routine equipment and scanning jams on registers. To meet the minimum qualifications for this position you must possess (1) 6 months of general experience, OR (2) one full year of education above high school, OR (3) a combination of experience and education that equals 100% of the qualification requirements. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position. Applicants with a Permanent Resident Card (aka Green Card) are authorized to live and work in the U.S. but are not eligible for employment in positions requiring U.S. citizenship. The minimum age requirement is generally 18 years of age. Employing those under 18 may be possible under certain circumstances.
