Department:SMHSP79920 Special Assignment TeamExpected Weekly Hours:0Shift:Day ShiftPosition Purpose:Capable clinician who has acquired broad experience in caring for patients, and has developed a sound understanding about the care of a particular patient population. Routinely uses acquired knowledge, theory, research and experience to respond to changes in clinical situations. Serves as a resource to colleagues and strong advocate for patients/families.The Special Assignment team is an internal float pool for Saint Mary’s Hospital. Registered Nurses, with two years of recent, relevant inpatient experience will float to our inpatient units: medical surgical cluster, cardiac telemetry, CCU, ER and intermediate care.Job Description Details:

Requiring 1-2 years clinical experience in the clinical specialty. Demonstrates proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills. Preferred experience with anti-arrhythmic drips and complex pulmonary management. Ability to be flexible and adapt to the fluctuating patient complexities and needs.

Must have strong customer service and communication skills.

BSN preferred (exceptions will be made for Associates Degree RN’s who are currently enrolled in a BSN program or are willing to complete a BSN within three years of hire).

Registered Nurse with current license to practice in the state of CT

Clinical and technical knowledge and skills consistent with licensure required. Related experience preferred.

Minimum of two years of acute care experience, BLS and ACLS upon hire.
