The Director, Global Procurement Category Management- Biologicals & Chemicals is responsible for developing and implementing the overall category strategy for the assigned portfolio of direct spend categories (Biologicals and Chemicals) across all divisions in Life Sciences Group (LSG) for Thermo Fisher Scientific. The role will work closely with the LSG Procurement Division Business Partners, Quality, Operations, R&D, Business leaders to ensure procurement category strategies are aligned to business requirements, savings targets are met, decisions are efficiently executed, supplier quality is closely monitored, and supplier risk is understood with mitigation plans in place. The individual will lead a global category team to execute on those strategies, building a strong functional organization, establishing best practices, negotiating global contracts with preferred suppliers, identifying and driving continuous improvement initiatives.Responsibilities:

Lead assigned portfolio of categories to deliver key category performance objectives including: Annual cost savings, supplier rationalization, spend under master agreement, supplier performance, supply chain risk management and new product introductions.

Lead a team of category managers and specialists.

Develops and drives 3 to 5-year global sourcing strategies focused on identifying and contracting with suppliers that meet key business needs and the category management goals

Identifies and manages performance of global strategic supplier base.

Aligns sourcing processes and personnel to efficiently support overall LSG global procurement needs

Acts as the key interface with the Thermo Fisher divisions in ensuring alignment of strategies, standard processes and commitments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business or technical field.

Minimum of 10 years procurement/sourcing experience with increasing global responsibility and experience in a large matrixed company environment.

Demonstrated success in providing strategic and results-oriented change leadership as Procurement leader of a complex, growth-oriented global manufacturing company or large division.

Experience leading matrix teams across businesses, multiple global manufacturing locations, and cultural boundaries

Ability to balance a strategic focus with detail orientation when necessary

Possess a thorough business understanding from demand creation through fulfillment; including understanding of P&L and balance sheet

Have strong cross-functional leadership/influencing experience and skills.

Possess strong process and analytics orientation with a track record of reducing costs, improving profits and streamlining operations in order to achieve lasting financial improvements.

Experience in a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant year over year results.

Acts with customers in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.

Motivates staff and develops them to be future leaders in the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

CPSM or equivalent

Hands-on manufacturing and/or supply chain experience
