  • GENERAL SUMMARY Functions as the clinical expert, educator, consultant, leader and researcher for nursing information systems. Responsible for the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, evaluation and training of information system projects to improve the nursing process. Will function as an internal consultant and resource to all nursing personnel and will provide direction and education for all clinical information initiatives in accordance with the strategic objectives of the Department of Nursing, WHC, and MedStar Health. Will continually monitor and evaluate opportunities for technical innovations and enhancements for the Department of Nursing, ensuring that the applications and systems utilized are consistent with professional standards of best clinical nursing practice. PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Three years of progressively more responsible job related experience. Prior experience in an IS related role is preferred. EDUCATION: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing; Master's degree in Nursing Informatics or Information Management is required. CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION/LICENSURE: A license as a registered nurse in the District of Columbia is required. Specialty certification in informatics must be obtained within eighteen months of hire. BLS is required.
