Field Service Engineer

- Safely use tools appropriate to a given task (voltage-rated and standard hand tools; power tools; electrical testing and monitoring equipment; fabrication equipment); assure the quality of work through the use of precision calibration equipment and procedures
- Work safely at all times, and perform necessary housekeeping. Keep personal safety and that of others always as the first goal
- Estimate required tools and materials for assigned tasks; communicate requirements to ensure parts, supplies, etc. are on hand for task
- Performing factory-certified commissioning and startup of Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
- Troubleshooting process issues including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and servo/motion issues to determine if a PLC/software problem or a mechanical/process problem. Ability to prepare and implement a corrective action plan.
- Work from prints, diagrams, schematics, specifications, instructions, operations manuals, and manufacturer's manuals and specifications, to perform repairs.
- Contribute multi-craft skills as required to assist in or complete assigned field service and engineering tasks
- Travel up to 50% in New England Region. Weekdays, with limited or no overnights.
- Company service vehicle is included.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and panel diagrams, single line diagrams, P&IDs, and conduit and wire schedule
- Be able to manage projects including interfacing with customers, vendors and suppliers, and trades on field projects.
- Ability to evaluate project documentation to determine functional requirements and identify any missing information or technical details.
- Able to prepare professional presentations and technical documents.
- Assigned housekeeping responsibilities.
- Prior experience (2+ years) in an automation/industrial environment
- VFD setup, configurations, commissioning
- Reading comprehension, mathematics and writing
- Good oral and written communication
- Organized with attention to detail
- Process control commissioning and troubleshooting
- VFD setup, integration, and commissioning.
- Basic Knowledge of AC and DC circuits and trouble shooting ability
- Ability to utilize CAD software for creating and modifying schematics and drawing
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to set up, calibrate and troubleshoot pressure, temperature, flow meters
- 0-10 volt and 4-20 ma loop knowledge and troubleshooting
- PLC's: IDEC, Allen Bradley, Siemens, Automation Direct
- HMI development, Exor, Eaton, Panelview, Automation Direct
- Knowledge of control networks (IP and Modbus) and SCADA systems
- Working knowledge of the N.E.C.
- Working knowledge of UL508A
