This includes: workflow facilitation; preparation and review of staff quality and efficiency reports; monitoring staff performance to enforce technical and service standards; ordering of department supplies; preparation and compliance for inspections; maintenance of employee personnel files; coaching; meeting attendance in absence of Manager; interviewing, orienting, and scheduling of employees; motivating high performance and productivity from employees.The value you’ll bring to the team:Performs assigns and oversees pre-analytical laboratory activities, which may include general equipment maintenance, function checks and documentation; inventory control and supply stocking; blood specimen collection; biological specimen processing; cleaning and disinfection of selected or assigned laboratory equipment and spaces; and other pre-analytical activities. Provides and acts on technical and support information related to the elements of laboratory testing for all age groups, from neonates through geriatric patients.

Supports staff using effective scheduling, workload assignments, and troubleshooting problems; motivates high performance and productivity from employees.

Actively participates in, and has knowledge of, laboratory and hospital Performance Improvement activities, including resolution of customer services issues, evaluation of new equipment and/or procedures or methods, preparation and review of staff quality and efficiency reports; and monitoring staff performance to enforce technical and service standards.

Assists department manager with department staffing, including interviewing replacement staff members as appropriate, ensuring appropriate orientation of new employees, ongoing training, coaching, mentoring and documented competency assessment; acts as a proficient resource for all departmental tasks and training. Assists with the coordination/facilitation of the clinical experience of students in a AdventHealth or affiliated education program

QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:Required:Exhibits technical skills and aptitudes related to the specific laboratory specimen collections as performed in department or work area assigned.

Displays the ability to comprehend, measure, reason, match, problem solve, and exercise judgment under minimal supervision.

Three years’ experience in a Clinical Laboratory setting.

Preferred:Associates degree or 2 years post-secondary education in Management/Business or Health related fields

National Phlebotomy or Medical Lab Assistant Certification

Leadership experience
