Find your future with us.The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Experienced Software Engineer to join the BDS Digital Acceleration program located in St. Louis, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.This position is a software engineering role on the BDS Software Products and Capabilities (P&C) Autonomy Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) team. This engineer will become part of a broader entrepreneurial, fast-paced team integrating the "software brains" of Boeing's future advanced unmanned and autonomous systems. In this role, you will be a senior developer on the team designing, integrating, testing and validating technologies deployed within open avionics and mission systems standards based virtual simulations, hardware, and in-flight environments. The P&C Autonomy SEIT team supports the maturation of Boeing's autonomous platform capabilities in surveillance, aerial refueling, collaborative teaming as well as other defense missions.The Autonomy SEIT team is part of the larger Digital Acceleration program within BDS including teams and team members located across the United States. It is a full Agile SAFe organization developing Mission Systems, flight and autonomous software capabilities, with multiple Product Lines/Families. This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.Position Responsibilities:

  • Create software systems to control, augment, and enhance Boeing products
  • Integrate software into Open Mission Systems environments using real-time software architectures and designs
  • Lead junior engineers in software development
  • Perform use case development for software requirements
  • Perform software architecture trade studies and modifications to meet new requirements
  • Develop interface definitions
  • Perform unit and integration testing
  • Participate in peer reviews
  • Support system and flight testing
  • Creation of software documentation
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements: This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires ship. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • Ability to obtain Secret US Security Clearance (Post-Start)
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • 1+ years of mission systems software experience
  • Software language experience, including C, Python, and Java
  • Real time software development experience
  • Experience with Agile software development process
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance
  • Autonomy and / or Robotics software techniques
  • Human machine interface software development experience, tactical human machine interface or fighter display experience.
  • Software language experience, including C, Python, and Java
  • Simulation development experience
  • Experience with Continuous integration practices
  • Usage of software development tools such as JIRA, GIT and Jenkins
  • Software testing experience
  • Experience with open standards such as Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE), Open Mission Systems (OMS), Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA), Universal Command and Control Interface (UCI)
Typical Education/Experience:
  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
