Come build your career with Boeing!Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an Associate Industrial Engineer to support Phantom Works programs in St. Louis, MO region.This role will have the opportunity to support the fabrication and assembly for the next generation of defense products and define the future of the BDS production system.Boeing Phantom Works is building the future - creating innovative solutions that will define the next generation of aerospace and defense. We are looking for an innovative Engineer that is excited to take on a variety of challenges in an ever-changing environment!Position Responsibilities:

  • Applies industrial engineering concepts, approaches and techniques to product, process and services to meet program requirements of moderate complexity.
  • Maintains and develops plant and equipment layouts, capacity plans, accident prevention measures, sequencing of operations and work flows.
  • Supports the evaluation of new techniques and technological developments for integration into the production process and service operations.
  • Designs, maintains, and optimizes the production system by integrating design, supply base, facilities, equipment, and personnel.
  • Completes work flow design and analysis. Develops moderately complex models, databases and spreadsheets to analyze data and provides summary analysis and metrics for consultation to leaders.
  • Assists with research, design, development, improvement, and implementation of processes and tools to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, for large scale systems integration and asset utilization.
  • Develops and implements plans and programs for facility/factory modifications and revisions to operating methods. Provides product assembly instructions and standardizes assembly practices.
  • Analyzes and designs value stream, including capability, capacity (e.g., make/buy, supplier selection, risk analysis, supplier performance), throughput, work flow and logistics (e.g., critical path, lead-time, transportation, factory layout).
  • Prepares operations plans, includes work statement analysis, budgeting and forecasts, capacity and constraint analysis and production change, to ensure technical goals and objectives are met.
  • Supports execution planning by using project management, planning and scheduling and shop load practices.
  • Provides production, supply chain logistics, performance visibility and recovery planning support of moderate complexity.
  • Reconciles compliance with established industry safety, design standards and ergonomic guidelines.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location. This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry is required
  • 1+ year of experience in an engineering related discipline
  • Experience with Industrial Engineering or Production Engineering
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with process improvement and Lean Manufacturing
  • Capable of building and maintaining positive relationships in dynamic, fast paced environments
  • Adaptable to change and a quick learner
  • Ability to effectively communicate with engineering peers, management, and non-engineering support staff, and communicate technical recommendations understandable for all audiences
  • Experience with Discrete Event Simulation Software (Simio, ProModel, etc.)
  • Experience with Constraint Based Scheduling Software (Aurora, MS Project, etc)
  • Experience with NX/Unigraphics and/or other 3D CAD software
  • Experience implementing APQP and PFMEA to optimize and transition prototype approaches to production processes
Additional desired skills:
  • Software development and programming experience (SQL, JAVA, HTML, VBA (Excel Macros), Python, or others)
  • Experience with Teamcenter Product Data Manager, Process Simulate, Manufacturing Process Planner
  • Experience with Teamcenter Visualization Mockup
  • Desire to explore the limits, capabilities and development of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality applications for production system layout, design, and technician training
Typical Education/Experience: Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).
