Farm Stand Seeking Server / Retail Superstar!

Schilling’s Garden Market is excited to announce an opening for one part time/seasonal Farm Stand Associate. We are seeking and individual who might have some experience with farming or physical labor, a good work ethic, food, and beverage knowledge and a strong commitment to purveying local food and beverages. As a Farm Stand Associate, you will be responsible for many aspects of our farm stand operations.

This position is seasonal and will begin in March and will last through December- with the option to return in the spring. You must be available to work weekends. This position is between 31-35 hours per week with an option to possibly work more.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent customer service ability

Excellent attention to product knowledge

Have a working knowledge of produce, including handling and storage

Demonstrated accurate and responsible management of a cash register, including counting back change and settling the register at the end of a shift

Motivated, energetic, and flexible

Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Must have a valid driver’s license

Must have a valid OLCC server’s permit

Experience with retail and/or hospitality

Oregon wine, beer, and cider knowledge

Be able to serve beer, wine, and cider to patrons for limited on-premises consumption.

Verifying the identification and age of customers, preparing, and serving alcoholic beverages (beer, wine and cider).

Knowledge of agricultural systems is a plus!

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Maintain clean, attractive, fully stocked displays.

Display and maintain clear and accurate pricing on all products.

Maintain a clean and properly organized storage (fridges, walk in coolers, etc) area.

Pull produce that isn’t sellable and write in adjustments book.

Maintain a debris and dirt-free floor.

Unload produce and third-party products, verifying piece count, damaged goods, or discrepancies of received orders.

Sign for deliveries with appropriate adjustments noted on invoices.

Provide all invoices to farm stand management.

Inform manager of low stock, or out of stock items for re-order.

Ensure all open signs, etc. are in use during store hours.

Answer phones calls and emails in a timely manner.

Greet customers as they enter or exit the Farm Stand.

Maintain pleasant interactions with all customers to ensure complete customer satisfaction.

Answer customers' questions and provide information and share our story as well as our local suppliers' stories.

Make sales referrals, cross-sell products and introduce new ones!

Resolve customer complaints when appropriate or inform management to address immediately.

Confidently operate our POS system.

Bag items carefully and respectfully, keeping in mind the customers’ needs.

Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.

Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00/hr (dependent on experience)
