Find your future with us.Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Lead Structural Design Engineer to join the T-7 Variant Program located in Berkeley, MO.As a member of this team, you will be responsible for leading the development of a structural assembly, developing estimates and schedules as well as leading other structural designers on our team located at our St. Louis site.Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight and direction to develop, integrate and document structural requirements to establish the system design.
  • Leads development of structural component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
  • Develops new design processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort. Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Support internal / external design reviews and technical interchange meetings (TIMs).
  • Lead a team of design engineers and provide coaching across all levels.
  • Pursue process improvements and other affordability initiatives to reduce platform costs.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes , lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 10+ years of experience working as an airframe structural designer
  • Expert user of Computer Aided Design (CAD), Product Data Management (PDM), and Low End Viewer (LEV) software tools
  • Capability to effectively and efficiently coordinate with multiple engineering functions and disciplines including structural analysis, air vehicle subsystems, production operations, etc.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Familiarity with metal part design practices using NX
  • Prior experience with work package creation and engineering definition data release schedule drivers
  • Experience using Boeing Non-Recurring Product Development (NRPD) or equivalent Boeing Development Processes
  • Experience utilizing Full Size Determinant Assembly
  • 5+ years of experience leading, coaching and developing others (including those who are not your direct reports)
  • 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners.
  • 5+ years of experience preparing and delivering briefs and presentations to leadership or customer groups
Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
