Sr Transportation Coordinator

Description: Couriers provide special services that include sample deliveries to CDC campuses, and also provide cryogenic support as needed.Responsibilities:

Operates delivery vehicle to provide scheduled and unscheduled sample pickups and deliveries.

Packs all samples for transport properly to ensure physical and thermal integrity.

Ensures that all DOT and other regulatory paperwork is complete and in place before transporting samples.

Notifies manager if packaging is found to be insufficient or inappropriate.

Efficiently and safely transports samples from laboratories to the CDC Biorepository and delivers samples to laboratories to other CDC campuses utilizing assigned vehicle.

Provides support services, including tracking and ordering supplies and maintaining records.

Maintains log of deliveries, travel, and fuel.

Conducts basic safety and maintenance checks of assigned vehicle in accordance with procedures and reports any mechanical problems.

Cryogenic support duties include sample handling, storage, retrieval, shipment, and entering inventory information into a laboratory information management system. Other duties include providing specialized services to laboratories such as sample manipulation, aliquoting, and other handling that may require aseptic technique.

Education:Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred in a lab or Biology background.Experience:Prefer a minimum of 1-3 years related experience.Experience in logistics with a life science company preferred.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Minimum age of 21 years old for insurance requirementsThe proven ability to consistently and independently follow policies and procedures, instructions, and to meet schedules required.Must be able to lift 50 pounds consistentlyNeed to be proficient with MS Office, computer skills, Outlook in order to support the operation in its daily functions.
