Find your future with us.The Boeing Company is currently seeking an F/A-18 and EA-18 Lead Software Engineering Architect (Level 5) to join the F/A-18 Mission Systems Software group located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.The position it to be the chief software architect for the F/A-18 Distributed Target Processor Networked (DTP-N). The DTP-N is a cornerstone of future Boeing Naval Aviation platforms based on a Service Oriented Architecture.The F/A-18 DTP-N is enabling state of the art application development through Open Mission Systems (OMS) and container technology. This future enables horizontal integration of applications across platforms, accelerates development process by standardizing dependencies and creates trust through secure development pipelines.Potential Signing Bonus for Eligible/Qualified candidate.Position Responsibilities:
- Champion software architecture among all stakeholders - Develop architecture artifacts to support product lines, not only individual products. Define common and variable elements across all architecture views. Champion product line concerns.
- Ensure quality throughout the development process, by owning the DTP-N Architectural runway, driving enabler capabilities and architectural excellence
- Define, optimize and address gaps in process across the development lifecycle
- Champion modernization - devsecops/containers/OMS
- Technical integrity - set the example, lead the way, guide teams to excellent solutions
- Collaborate with other CSAs to maximize commonality, reuse, and horizontal integration across Boeing Avionics product lines. This includes both product elements (e.g., flight software) and process elements (e.g., methods, standards, work instructions, development utilities)
- Technical oversight
- Lead OMS design and implementation
- Mentor and develop engineers
- Train software teammates on architecture decisions and incorporate feedback from development activities into architecture
- Ability to obtain Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start)
- Prior experience working on Mission Systems products
- Deep experience with software troubleshooting and defect analysis
- Service Oriented Architecture, specifically Data Distribution Service (DDS)
- Large-scale C system development
- Familiarity/Experience with F/A-18 SW products and processes
- Working knowledge of the Scale Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Development of 4+1 architecture views
- Familiarity/Experience with Phantom Fusion
- Open Mission Systems (OMS) experience
- Containerization technology
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience)
- In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
