Find your future with us.The Boeing Company is seeking a Software Manager who will be responsible for one of our Vehicle Simulation teams that support rotorcraft platforms. The Rotorcraft Vehicle Simulation team builds simulation software that powers a portfolio of helicopter training solutions. The simulations we build and maintain are used to train current and future pilots of Apache attack, Chinook heavy lift, and Gray Wolf multi-mission helicopters, both in the United States Army and with our many international customers.The successful candidate will be leading highly-motivated software development teams. This leader will be responsible for execution and performance of software engineers on cross-functional agile teams and will provide technical management and guidance while leading process improvements to develop strong software competencies for existing and future Rotorcraft training systems simulation.Position Overview:

  • Leads, develops, and motivates software engineers
  • Enables execution of software teams by providing oversight of technical approaches, products and processes that align with the program and contract goals and objectives.
  • Defines Rotorcraft Vehicle Simulation software engineering priorities, strategies, and execution, while improving cross-functional communication with other Boeing and Government software teams.
  • Collaborates with internal and external customers to coordinate the team's activities; ensure that resources are provided for customer requirements, respond to customer help needed, and work with stakeholders to prioritize customer needs
  • Drives initiatives to implement updated software architecture to meet improved software build cycle times and operational efficiency
  • Leads oversight of initiatives to improve first time software quality during inspect and adapt agile cycles
  • Manages software product performance - including schedule and cost via both agile (backlog) and traditional (EVM)
  • Acquires resources for organizational activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Reviews team estimates to ensure they cover requirements and review and approve proposals for new contract work
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, and peers.
  • Ensure the software ecosystem and processes supports our engineers to perform at their best (style guidelines, branching methodologies, CI/CD, test environment, etc)
Security Clearance:This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is requiredBasic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing software engineering activities
  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment and DevOps methodologies
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
  • Experience working on either aircraft training systems or a modeling and simulation project
  • Experience in real-time, near real-time, or embedded systems
  • 1+ years of experience estimating costs and developing schedules meeting EVM requirements
  • Experience with mentoring, coaching, guiding, and leading teams of junior and peer engineers
  • Experience working with internal and external customers and suppliers.
Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.Hybrid/Telecommute:This Hybrid position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.
