Lead Finish Carpenter

Berrien County custom home builder, Schmidke Construction and Contracting, is looking to fill a full-time Lead Carpenter position with 10+ years in the industry. This is a hands-on role with emphasis on the key skills and requirements below.

Key Skills:

- Proficient in all aspects of residential carpentry involving: trim work including stair building, siding, framing, and the like, with emphasis on detail work

-Motivation and Professionalism

-Able to communicate positively and effectively with homeowners and project partners

-Able to aid in supervising and directing other employees, subcontractors, and vendors

-Work in parallel with the Project Manager as a team to reach project goals

-Forward-thinking and able to problem solve

-Able to read and understand blueprints, assist in material take-offs and coordinating job schedules

-Capable of working autonomously and efficiently, managing time and prioritizing tasks well

-Organized and desires to leave a work-site, shop, and company vehicle tidy

Requirements:

-10+ years of skilled on-site industry experience

-Capable of installing high-end finish carpentry with minimal direction

-Own at least minimal hand tools and bags, company van and tools available

-General construction knowledge in all areas of industry

-Previous estimating and material ordering experience a plus but not a necessity

-Must pass random drug testing
