Find your future with us.The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Experienced Structural Analysis Engineer to join a BDS Bombers and Fighters world-class engineering team located in St. Louis. This position is for a proprietary program.As a member of this team, your tasks will include durability and damage tolerance (DaDT) analysis, assisting with the development and generation of the air vehicle Master Event Spectrum, calculation of fatigue allowables to aid structural design and analysis, and planning and execution of DaDT related structural test activities.Position Responsibilities:

  • Working under general direction, develop, integrate and document operational requirements and environments that contribute to the guidance and assessment of air vehicle service life
  • Communicate with other engineering disciplines - flight, loads and dynamics, mass properties, test and evaluation, structural and subsystems design and analysis, etc. - in a model-based environment to track and capture model inputs and deliverables required by other analysis processes
  • Coordinate with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.
  • Participate in team-level working design meetings, external technical interchange meetings (TIMs), and program-level milestone design reviews (PDR/CDR) with Customers.
  • Detect and mature process improvements or alternative, non-traditional approaches to reduce costs related to design, analysis, production, testing, and/or support of structural components and assemblies
  • Support test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications for structural integrity.
  • Assist in defining and documenting certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that DaDT related requirements are satisfied.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (ship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active) Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position. For Special Program Access requiring shipBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 5+ years of experience in Structural Analysis
  • Experience with finite element analysis
  • 5+ years of experience gathering data and developing presentations using that data in PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • 3+ years of experience performing fatigue analysis on aerospace structural parts and assemblies
  • Proficient user of standard BDS Fatigue and Fracture tool suite (i.e. LifeWorks, Mission Mixer, Caesar, StressCheck, CSW, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Hypermesh and Nastran for FEA model creation and solving and Patran for FEM result extraction
  • Ability to query and extract geometry using NX
  • Previous exposure to typical Department of Defense customer structural design, test, and certification requirements (i.e. MIL-HDBK-516C, JSSG-2006)
  • Experience developing and maintaining cooperative partnerships with customer counterparts
  • Organizational skills that enable teammates to efficiently collaborate and assist with complex tasks related to spectrum generation and design allowable requests
  • Familiarity with material, component, and/or vehicle-level fatigue testing.
  • Prior experience working air vehicle development programs preferred.
  • Prior exposure to Full Size Determinant Assembly
Typical Education/Experience Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Masters/PhD+3 years related work experience).
