Environmental Health and Safety Intern for our client in Southaven, MS Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Intern Job Location: Southaven, MS Job Type: Contract Job Description:- We are looking for an ambitious and responsible Environmental Health and Safety Intern to join our team.
- As an Environmental Health and Safety Intern, the candidate will work with EHS specialists/ managers, to undertake projects directed at specific topics such as equipment safety, chemical safety, occupational ergonomics, and training & education.
- EHS Interns also work closely with cross-functional teams ranging from production to engineering to provide EHS support to day-to-day operations, conduct safety walkthroughs and audits, participate in analyses of workplace incidents and help drive corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant legal rules and regulations.
- Educate and oversee employees on health and safety procedures and regulations.
- Always ensure the company is prepared to submit all relevant health and safety documents.
- Encourage and promote the use of safer work equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Keep abreast of industry and market trends and best practices.
- Completed at least one year of college education before beginning internship working towards a degree in Environmental Studies, Industrial Safety, Public Health, Safety, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or Safety Engineering.
- Currently enrolled and in good standing at an accredited University graduate program.
- Be an active student in good standing at an accredited university.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or equivalent.
- Ability to develop and maintain key project metrics and assure compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate policies.
- Self-starters who are results-oriented, resourceful, analytical, innovative, and intellectually curious.
- Demonstrate a strong ability to embrace and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, and strong written and oral communication skills.
- Administrative and record-keeping skills.
- Knowledge of local, state-level, national and international laws and regulations related to the protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees.
- Demonstrated organizational and planning skills, including action-oriented, focused urgency, and driving for results.
- Ability to be effective in complex projects with ambiguity and/or rapid change.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize and schedule work to meet business needs.
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to work with others in a team environment; effective interactions in cross-department teams.
- Computer literacy (PC, Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, Outlook, Smartsheets).
- Detail-oriented, with emphasis on accuracy and completeness.
