Find your future with us.IT Product Systems is seeking an early career User Experience/Product Designer to join our team to contribute on the software experience and design of manufacturing shop floor products of the future, from user research through iterative development and delivery. Location is flexible, but you are required to be near a major Boeing site (Washington, Missouri, or South Carolina). IT Product Systems is accelerating our adoption of Extreme Agile development practices to accelerate our focus on designing and building solutions and differentiating capabilities to help Boeing compete in our second century. Our focus is on innovative solutions implementing cutting-edge agile software development methodologies and user-centric design. This position will place you at heart of a fast-paced, growing organization where you will have the opportunity to partner with product teams and enable them to internalize and apply these agile methodologies moving forward. As a User Experience Designer, you will work with a team in a casual but professional environment where there is long-term potential for career growth into management or technical leadership positions. Limited travel may be required depending on the job assignment.Position Responsibilities: In close collaboration with your team, you will identify the user and customer needs and turn them into products and experiences that empower the business. As a member of the Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) team you will collaborate with other designers located primarily in Puget Sound, WA and Charleston, SC to maintain and improve our consistent design and user experience.

  • Actively involve users throughout all phases of your projects to ensure product usefulness, usability and delight.
  • Support user research and assist facilitating iterative feedback loops.
  • Partner with stakeholders and teammates to define user requirements, user journeys, and usability goals.
  • Communicate the value of User-Centered Design to stakeholders regularly.
  • Translate research insights into wireframe alternatives and high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Create and maintain a product style guide, leveraging Boeing standard design patterns and industry visual design guidelines.
  • Support and assist usability tests to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of your designs.
  • Present usability test findings and recommend code changes, design iterations or new research tracks.
  • Communicate design rationale based on user research data and continuously advocate for the end user when it poses challenges to resource constraints.
  • Partner with internal mobile development teams, business analysts, architects and business partners to ensure user adoption and an effective solution delivery.
  • Contribute to the growth of the UX Design discipline by sharing User-Centered Design best practices with the User Experience Community.
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes , lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
  • The ability to develop and measure usability goals to ensure efficient and effective designs.
  • Led or assisted user research, design collaboration sessions, and usability evaluations for a software application or systems.
  • Worked with a Lean/Agile software development methodology, rapidly iterating and delivering solutions.
  • A portfolio demonstrating innovative solutions, problems you have solved and your design process.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): The ideal candidate will have the following proven experience where you:
  • Established relationships with end-users.
  • Established visual design consistency across a software system, communicated through a style guide.
  • Created responsive designs optimized for a mobile interaction.
  • Used advanced prototyping tools such as Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision and/or Flinto.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:
  • Passionate about empathizing with end users, iterating relentlessly, and teaching the value of User-Centered Design to stakeholders and teammates.
  • Open-minded, creative, self-critical, flexible and adaptable.
  • Open to trying and teaching new design methodologies and processes.
  • Team player and self-starter who can organize activities and collaborate with end-users, stakeholders, product managers, software engineers, and fellow designers.
  • Driven by curiosity and the desire to grow their UX skills
  • Understanding of technical concepts of back-end development, and understanding and knowledge of front-end development (HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc.
  • Excellent communicator of design work and your rationale behind proposals to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including presentation skills
  • Eager to work in one of the most exciting industries on the planet.
Typical Education/Experience: Technical Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, Human Centered Design, Visual Design, Computer Science, or a related field and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. a Master's degree, 6 year's related work experience, etc.).Relocation: Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
