Overview / Responsibilities Wood's Environmental and Infrastructure division is seeking an Environmental Professional / Risk Assessor to join our Atlanta (Kennesaw), GA office and become an integral member of our risk assessment team. Candidate must have knowledge and experience providing risk assessment and environmental monitoring consulting for various media including groundwater, surface water, soil, and/or sediment, and have an understanding of various federal and state environmental regulations as they relate to terrestrial and aquatic environments. Candidate should be able to perform and/or coordinate project work for risk assessments as either independent evaluations or under larger scopes of work. Candidate must have the ability to perform work independently that may involve complex features, such as quantification of risk or data interpretation, calculations, and evaluation, after a brief introduction to the process. Tasks performed are non-routine and require professional judgment and experience. Candidate will be responsible for managing deliverables through development, review, and submittal. Candidate will be a member of a team providing scientific consulting services to private industry and government clients. This position will support a wide variety of projects. Some of the duties of this position may include: Provide technical support in all phases of human health risk assessment and/or ecological risk assessment, including, but not limited to, site characterization, fate and transport modeling, data quality objectives, quantification of risk and hazards from contaminants, and/or development of site-specific remedial goals for a range of environmental media Prepare formal reports, field reports, and internal correspondence Serve as co-author for work plans, technical reports, and other technical submittals Conduct statistical analysis of complex datasets Conduct calculations for fate and transport modeling, exposure/risk modeling, and vapor intrusion modeling for hazardous chemicals Develop conceptual site exposure models Respond to inquiries pertaining to human health and/or environmental effects of specific chemical substances Coordinate site activities with contractors, subcontractors, agency personnel, and client representatives Lead and/or direct field sampling with field oversight opportunities (e.g., surface water, soil, sediment, biota, and/or groundwater) Follow company safety standards, site safety standards, and maintain safe workplace practices Understand, apply, and oversee safety requirements Exercise independent professional judgment not subject to close review Maintain a high level of skill in communications, with emphasis on the preparation of clear and concise written reports Represent Wood and interact in a professional manner with client and subcontractor representatives while on field assignments Skills / Qualifications Required Minimum 2-7 years of related risk assessment or consulting experience Demonstrated knowledge in areas of risk assessment and toxicology Understanding and background with multiple state and federal regulatory frameworks (RCRA, CERCLA, NEPA, NRDA, etc.); experience with Georgia Hazardous Site Response Act (HSRA) preferred Experience with water quality issues and soil/sediment contamination concerns Experience with indoor air vapor intrusion modeling and lead exposure modeling for human health risk assessment Working knowledge of statistics Knowledge of and experience with industry-specific software (e.g., MS Office, ProUCL) Working knowledge of risk assessment databases Excellent written and verbal communication skills Attention to detail, including calculations, spelling, and grammar Excellent computer application and spreadsheet skills Must be able to travel locally and nationally as necessary Must be located in the Atlanta area or willing to relocate to the Atlanta area and work daily in an office environment
