Find your future with us.The Boeing Company is currently seeking a highly skilled Software Engineering Manager to join the Enterprise Software Products & Capabilities leadership team. This position will focus on leading a diverse team driving the latest technologies, develop embedded software, and common processes & standards to be shared with the Boeing business units.This software engineering position requires an experienced background in developing software, including the use of agile processes and lifecycle management tools and is able to serve as an agile mentor and coach for the team.The ideal candidate may see this as a career opportunity into engineering management, having prior experience in organizational leadership roles such as a project lead, technical lead or program manager.Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required.Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads by example with the best of Boeing Behaviors to motivate and inspire a team of engineers on a day to day basis via mentoring, coaching and employee recognition
  • Responsible for new employee onboarding, computing assets and training, including annual evaluations and career development, aspiring to hire and develop the best team and talent
  • Develops team strategies and approaches for new business activities, grooms estimates and ROMs for approval
  • Promotes establishing coding standards, efficient software development processes and tools
  • Critically reviews agile software plans to organize a well-defined, robust backlog with executable software build plans
  • Oversees software configuration control boards to ensure vigorous Configuration Management (CM) practices are adopted
  • Fosters innovation and improvements via robust agile retrospective to help identify inefficiencies, common ailments and develop timely remedies
  • Creates work package level of details for enterprise & program baselines and change requests, including defining key hand-offs and milestones for a fully networked project schedule with other engineering functional teams to establish critical path
  • Works with the software technical leads and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to define quantifiable data for assessed percent complete and weekly reporting
  • Presents performance to plan briefings, including weekly accomplishments, cost and schedule performance, requests for help needed, staffing profiles, weekly and year to date metrics, performance indicators, and casts light on any risks, issues or opportunities
This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and does not require applicants to live in Mesa, Arizona, USA. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 5+ years of experience writing embedded software within software development life-cycles
  • 3+ years of experience designing and/or developing software frameworks
  • Able to travel 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Agile software development process experience
  • 1+ years of DO-178C experience
  • 3+ years of experience leading software development projects
