Find your future with us.The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Real Time Software Engineer to join our Environmental Control Systems software engineering team in Everett, Washington. The selected individual will work within the Boeing 737, 747, 777, 787 airplane systems, software engineering teams and interface with suppliers or internal Boeing organizations to oversee development of new software and updates, ensure application of best industry and Boeing requirements and assure compliance with regulatory requirements. You will be working with the coolest partners for Airborne software subsystems and ensure the Airplane meet requirements and comply with FAA standards. The Engineer applying for this position must have an in depth understanding of RTCA DO-178C, and/or any supplements such as DO-330, DO-331, and DO-332. Good understanding of the relationship between software aspects of certification, software testing/quality assurance/automation, and the safety assessment process is required. Highly desired are engineers with recent experience as an FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER), ODA Unit Member, or TSO certification specialist. Experience in finding compliance given varied development paradigms, documentation schemes, supplier relationships (single supplier, multiple suppliers, foreign and domestic) is a plus.Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and guide software suppliers in development of airborne software
  • Provide either showing of compliance or finding of compliance roles in accordance with FAA regulations associated with software development
  • Review and approve suppliers' software lifecycle data throughout software lifecycle processes; from planning. development and verification phases
  • Provide direction to suppliers to improve their performance to contractual requirements (quality, delivery, cost, technical, safety, communication, etc.).
  • Lead stage of involvement reviews
  • Evaluate risks and opportunities; assist suppliers in implementing risk mitigation plans.
  • Work with internal and external resources, utilizing tools, processes and methods to enhance supplier performance to meet customer and program requirements.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and supply chain personnel.
Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes , lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, verification or compliance finding activities.
  • Thorough understanding of RTCA DO-178 Software Considerations in Airborne Software Certification
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Master's degree
  • 5+ years of airborne software certification experience.
  • FAA Designated Engineering Representative, Authorized Representative or Engineering Unit Member in a company's delegated compliance organization
Typical Education/ Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master's degree + 8 years or Ph.D + 5 years related work experience).
