NACDD is a Member-based not-for-profit Association that improves the health of the public by strengthening state-based leadership and expertise for chronic disease prevention and control in states and at the national level. NACDD’s role continues to be that of standing in the gap, linking resources with its member-experts, and together creating a safer, healthier, and more equitable America.Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager the Staff Accountant will ensure accounts receivables and accounts payables are processed accurately and in a timely manner. This position will also play an important role in the monthly and annual close of the financial books and prepare monthly reconciliations of assigned accounts. In addition, the SA will partner with staff, consultants, vendors, and members to promote fiscal integrity and efficient and effective operations of the Association.Estimate 80% of work relates to Payroll, AR, AP, data tracking, and analysis and 20% for special projects.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Set-up account receivable client accounts;

Create and process account receivable invoices;

Maintain accounts receivable databases and spreadsheets, updating information as needed;

Recording and tracking payments in database;

Maintain membership dues platform;

Track and report membership dues activity;

Assist Membership Engagement Dept with annual membership invoicing and tracking;

Manage, reconcile, and report all contribution activity;

Track and log cash and check deposits;

Maintain American Express account funding;

Set-up new American Express card accounts;

Assist with account payables data entry processing;

Prepare accounting journal entries;

Prepare payroll allocation entries and payroll budget tracking;

Perform reconciliation and analysis of assigned balance sheet accounts and other analytical tasks;

Assist with monthly close account analysis;

Timely respond to accounts receivable questions/inquires and take appropriate actions;

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year-end close;

Maintain records and files in an organized, systematic, and intuitive manner;

Provide recommendations to chart of accounts and coding system maintenance policies and procedures;

Demonstrate a collaborative relationship with other departments, partners, vendors, etc.;

Complete responsibilities timely and with a sense of urgency;

Support the confidentiality of information;

Comply with guidelines, policies, and procedures of the Association, the State, and Federal;

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities;

Perform other duties as assigned.

RequirementsMinimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Associates Degree in Accounting with 10 years of related work experience required

Solid knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Experience working with grants preferred but not required

Moderate degree of understanding and exposure to different accounting software

Effective time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks

Effective written and oral communication skills

Demonstrate consistent high attention to detail and accuracy

Must be flexible to changing priorities

Solid analytical and organizational skills

Ability to facilitate collaborative and cooperative working relationships

Demonstrated ability to work as a proactive self-starter
