Join our team as we keep the most powerful Navy the world has known afloat and ready to serve! We are seeking a Senior Naval Diesel Engine Inspector to join our Surface Division team here at HII. This is a full-time position located in San Diego, CA. What You Will DoResponsibilities include:Conducting diesel engine inspections every 18-24 months on CRF patrol boats having diesel engines with 500 horsepower or greater.

Provide technical assistance with diesel engines, repairs, troubleshooting and material assessment of CRF patrol boat engines in accordance with OEM specifications.

Maintaining a diesel engine inspection schedule.

Tracking inspection results and reporting results to CRG-1, CRG-2 and CRS Maintenance Officers.

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.

What You Must HaveEducation/Qualification Requirements for the Diesel Engine Inspector (NEC 4314) position:Must have completed the Navy's Diesel Engine Inspector Course

Individual must meet current NAVSEA DEI certification requirements.

A minimum of 2 of the 5 years of experience will be in specialized marine propulsion or power generation maintenance, repair or inspection experience at the engineer, technician, planner, designer, foreman or quality assurance level concentrating on the specific application (i.e. gas turbines, diesel, and boilers).

Must have an active Secret Security Clearance

Be physically capable of entering confined areas such as boiler steam and water drums, uptakes, stacks, engine enclosures and plenums.

9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.

Bonus Points ForA Bachelors or Master's degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering is highly preferred.

Written recommendations from previous commands are a plus

10+ years experience with general marine propulsion or power generation experience in operations, maintenance, repair, or inspections preferred.

Physical RequirementsOffice, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
