Job Details:The purpose of this position is to provide continuous and effective management and direction of the electrical engineering department while providing technical electrical resource information and guidance for operation facilities and processing plants. Responsibilities include: R eport to senior director of engineering ; supervise and direct electrical engineering department personnel; develop project electrical estimates; maintain Tyson Foods Electrical Standards manual; inspect electrical system under construction to insure they comply with Tyson Foods Electrical Standards and construction specifications; analyze major electrical system failures and make recommendations for repair; interface and work with other department directors and engineers developing projects and project estimates; analyze electrical installation bids and recommend the candidates for successful bidder; prepare equipment and installation requisitions based on the bids when necessary; provide electrical project management services to ensure the installation meets the project specifications and Tyson standards when required; maintain a good working knowledge of the International Electrical Codes , Nation Electrical Code , OSHA , applicable state and local codes and accepted electrical engineering practices; development of specifications and standard guidelines for design implementation of electrical systems. Any other tasks as may be deemed appropriate for the successful performance of Tyson Foods Inc. REQUIREMENTS: Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering experience . L icensure ( by examination ) as a Professional Engineer preferred. Experience: A minimum of 10 years applicable engineering experience with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the food industry preferred ; minimum of 8 years’ experience in design and construction of industrial electrical systems power distribution instrumentation and controls . Computer Skills: Knowledge and use of computer programs , spreadsheet , database and scheduling programs required. Knowledge of 2D & 3D cad preferred. Communication Skills: Demonstrate e xcellent written and communication skills required Special Skills: Possess a good working knowledge of the National Electrical Code , OSHA , industrial electrical systems and PLC control systems; capable of supervising electrical engineers on multi-faceted projects of any magnitude; demonstrated ability to complete complex projects on time and on budget; demonstrated ability to develop initial electrical concepts and preliminary electrical design; proven ability to analyze electrical equipment submittals and recommend quality and effective equipment vendors. Previous experience as a leader or contributor to a business unit preferred. Supervisory: Supervision of other engineers and drafter /designer Travel: Travel based on project needs.
