Your OpportunityThe Decision Insights, Analytics, and Data Science (DIAD) team provides support for the analytics, data science, and advanced analytics needs of Fraud Sciences and Strategies (FSS). FSS provides fraud detection and prevention analytics, strategies, policies, and oversight for a variety of money movement channels across several lines of business. In support of fraud detection and prevention programs, DIAD builds and maintains predictive models and provides advanced analytics and other data visualization tools.What you’re good atThe Jr Data Scientist will join a data science and analytics team that works collaboratively and with FSS team members to develop data solutions for business problems within FSS and the broader Financial Crimes Risk Management organization. You will play a key role in understanding and identifying business needs and using your familiarity with Schwab data and advanced analytics to assist in conducting analyses and providing insights that advise these solutions. You’ll work with internal business partners that are data-savvy, so your role will be providing additional insight and value from your data expertise. The findings of these projects will be used to advance fraud prevention programs within FSS.What you have

Proven experience with analytics projects solving real-world business problems

Experience with communicating quantitative analyses to others in a clear and concise manner

A passion for data and analytics and working with team members to provide value to and tackle problems for business partners

A proactive approach in identifying where data solutions can provide value

1-2 years of experience with analytics using an open-source programming language (Python or R preferred)

An understanding of basic statistical concepts

Experience with developing and communicating summary statistics from a dataset

Flexibility and eagerness to learn and work in a team setting and to dive in where needed

Curiosity and passion to learn new tools and techniques in the pursuit of providing ever-increasing value to the FSS team

B.S. degree in a quantitative field or social sciences field with a quantitative emphasis

What would also be great but not mandatory:

Experience in Financial Services or related field

Experience with data visualization tools in an open-source context

Working knowledge of Jupyter Notebooks
