Position DescriptionThe Senior Manager of FMS Collections is responsible for managing the day-to-day receivables collection process for all local accounts supporting all FMS Operating Regions and/or product lines. The position has a manager and supervisors as direct reports, in addition to collection specialists. The overall team is directly responsible for contacting customers for past due receivables, initiate dispute resolution, and escalate high risk and severe delinquency issues within established protocols.Specific job requirements are as follows:-Management of collection specialists, including monitoring work progress, adherence to collection protocols, publish monthly collector scorecards, work directly with low performing collectors to improve results, establish objectives, and perform semi-annual performance reviews-Serving as first level escalation point for customers with severe delinquency, major unresolved disputes, authorization for pre-default and withholding services-Monthly and quarterly presentations to Senior Management to explain collection metrics, results, and action plans for improvement-Work on teams and various projects to improve processes-Approval of all customer defaults, ensuring appropriate collection steps, documentation, and escalations prior to default-Approval of Credit Memos in Credit Memo Workflow, ensuring appropriate back-up and validity for the credit-Participation in monthly collection conference calls with Field Partners and customers to drive results and resolve non-payment issuesRequirements

Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or finance

Five (5) years or more of commercial collections experience

Five (5) years or more of management or supervisory experience leading salaried personnel

Two (2) years or more of transportation industry and/or leasing experience preferred

Ability to:

Analyze and interpret financial data; have a working knowledge of basic financial statements

Manage conflict and reconcile differences: manage conflict situations with customers and Ryder Field Partners

Effectively coach and deliver constructive feedback; coach Collection Team to deliver results

Influence internal and/or external constituents; formulate action plans to resolve issues with internal & external customers

Make major, complex, or frequent decisions; decision making on critical collection issues to reduce risk to the Company

Demonstrated problem solving skills; manage dispute resolution on customer issues

Strong verbal and written communication skills; extensive communication with internal and external customers

Understanding of computer hardware and software, especially word processing, spreadsheets, and email; working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of systems; intermediate level understanding of commercial contract law preferred

Basic understanding of financial statements preferred

Responsibilities Oversees the day-to-day activities of the local account collections team (hiring, performance management, metrics, scorecards, conf. calls, aged stmt. reviews, etc.) to ensure effective, efficient, timely, and reliable support is delivered; coaches and counsels manager, supervisors and collection specialists on performance, sets performance standards, recommends pay actions, and responsible for other HR actions Creates action plans on complex and major collection/customer issue escalations Identifies and prepares process improvements and other special projects Performs monthly forecasting, conducts month-end conference calls and delivers quarterly receivables presentations to senior management Conducts management review and approval of default packages and all credit memos Manages vision and processes for driving collection results through manager and supervisors, establishing consistency in managing personnel and process improvement Performs other duties as assignedRyder is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and Drug Free workplace.
