Warehouse forklift operators are responsible for operating forklifts to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks into railroad cars or trucks or storage facilities. Receive inbound products (including rail cars), replenish, and pull product utilizing forklifts and powered material handling equipment in a multi-temperature foodservice warehouse environment.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Safely and accurately receive inbound products (including rail), replenish inventory as needed and pull product (bread buns).
Read, interpret, and apply Warehouse Management System (WMS) order instructions
Utilize various digital technologies or software such as bar code readers and RF Scanners.
Recognize and correct potential process errors before actions adversely affect the customer.
Recognize damaged product at any point in the warehousing process and take appropriate action when discovered.
Be aware of and follow location and work center Safety and Security policies and procedures.
Perform basic sanitation duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Operate fork-lift equipment or other warehouse machinery
Other duties as assigned.
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
6 months prior warehouse forklift experience.
6 months of related experience (i.e. working in a distribution warehouse environment, grocery dock, construction or other positions which require lifting in multi-temperature environment).
Ability to operate a manual / powered pallet jack or lift product.
Forklift certification is required or obtained immediately upon hire.
Ability to work flexible work schedule (e.g., night shift, weekends and holidays) in a 24/7 distribution center environment.
Position must pass a post offer drug test and background check
- Experience working in a foodservice distribution center a plus
- Forklift Certification a plus
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Frequently stand, walk, reach with hands and arms.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 – 100 pounds.
Continuously work in a multi-temperature environment ranging from -10F to 100F.
