The Technical Asset Manager is responsible for the daily and long-term strategic management of hardware inventory within the IT organization. This is a technical position, requiring knowledge in discovery techniques, protocols, operating systems, and authentication methods. The responsibilities include planning, monitoring, and recording hardware assets to ensure compliance with vendor contracts and to mitigate risk to the technology environment. It also includes monitoring deployed assets to ensure that only authorized assets are deployed. The IT Asset Management Specialist will also develop and implement procedures for tracking company assets to oversee quality control throughout their lifecycles. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Function as technical Asset Manager, responsible for the discovery process, troubleshooting of issues, maintenance of Discovery jobs, and ownership of the bank's CMDB Manage IT asset inventory utilizing best practice Hardware asset management (HAM) and IT asset disposition (ITAD) processes and tools across the full range of digital technology assets. Maintains automated IT asset inventory capability. Gather data on and provide analysis of all activities that have an impact on the value, cost and risk of digital technology asset life cycles. Maintains the CMDB. Gather and analyze data to track lifecycle, maintenance and decommissioning of IT assets. Tracks license utilization; performs license audits; respond to license validation requests; track remedial actions. Coordinate the procurement function of IT assets. Coordinating communications to end users Qualifications Technical knowledge of discovery, including authentication methods, discovery tools, and troubleshooting of basic Windows, Linux, and network functionality as it relates to asset discovery. Experience with establishing, implementing, and maintaining the ServiceNow Discovery module, Integration Hub, import sets, and any other discovery/integrations solutions to populate the CMDB preferred. Experience in tracking Asset and License information via an Asset Management tool / CMDB. Experience with creating relationships and service mappings including connections, configuration, and dependencies for assets and/or CIs. Understanding of Vendor Management, Procurement, Asset Lifecycles, and License Management. Experience with using multiple discovery sources to populate the CMDB and use of Multisource CMDB features. Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related work experience, or equivalent work experience. Methodical approach with attention to detail Experience with managing and maintaining a healthy CMDB through completeness, compliance, and correctness metrics. Reviewing and publishing configuration management reporting Strong communication skills, written and verbal. Ability to execute procedures and follow established policy and procedure. Must be able to learn various technology quickly and work in a fast-paced environment
