Relocation or Recruitment Incentive have been authorized for this position.Permanent Change of Station (PCS) has been authorized for this position.This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).ResponsibilitiesIn the absence of the Chief of Staff, the Deputy Chief of Staff reports to the Medical Center Director and is responsible for the duties, or will assign a Service Line Manager to assist with the duties normally conducted by the Chief of Staff including the assumption of responsibility for all medical care and educational programs of the medical staff of the medical center. The Deputy Chief of Staff develops and maintains good working relationships with the staff and promotes the professional development of all health care professionals in relevant activities. Monitors and ensures medical staff compliance with agency regulations, medical staff bylaws, facility policies, Joint Commission standards, performance measures and other appropriate regulations. The Deputy Chief of Staff must possess a broad knowledge and understanding of healthcare policies, missions, operating programs and extensive specialized knowledge of healthcare management systems. Provides program oversight, coordination and leadership to improve quality and performance improvement initiatives across the Dublin VAMC. Operates under a broadly delegated authority and plays a critical role in organizational performance improvement as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Duties of this position may also include oversight of academic relationships between the Carl Vinson VAMC (CVVAMC) and outside Graduate Medical Education (GME) and LCME institutions. This may include management of GME affiliations and trainees. Further duties may include management of CME. The Deputy Chief of Staff may assist the COS is assessing quality of training programs and quality of clinician care. The Deputy Chief of Staff functions as a member of the senior leadership team and is accountable and responsible to the Chief of Staff for the coordination of activities related to clinical support oversight. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., and as needed. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
