Fort Bragg is approximately two hours from many beaches on the East coast and five hours from the Appalachian Mountains.ResponsibilitiesDetermines the condition(s) at issue and the procedures and equipment to best meet the needs of the individual case.Assures that sterile supplies, contrast media and other required supplies are on hand as needed and are properly stored.Sets up, adjusts, operates, and maintains equipment as required to obtain images.Perform obstetrical, pelvic, abdominal, and other ultrasonography examinations to aid in the diagnosis of disease or injury.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsWho May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. GS-08: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a wide variety of complex ultrasound examinations on human patients and identifying nature, significance and/or appearance of most disease and/or injuries. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position such as Anatomy, Ultrasound Physics, or Sonography. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcript). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts). GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a wide variety of obstetrical, pelvic, abdominal, vascular and other ultrasonography examinations to aid in the diagnosis of disease or injury; Set up, adjust, operate or maintain diagnostic equipment; Assist in maintaining quality control procedures, techniques, and equipment applied to diagnostic medical ultrasounds. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: Successful completion of at least a Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in Medical Instrument Technician (Ultrasound) or a related field of study such as Sonography or Diagnostic Radiology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).EducationFOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
