As an employee of QuarterLine, you will have the opportunity to treat active duty personnel, military retirees, eligible veterans, and their enrolled family members at the 23d Medical Group.About:The 23d Medical Group provides outpatient medical, dental, occupational, environmental and preventative healthcare services in support of a combat-ready HC-130, HH-60, A-10 rescue and close air support wing, an Air Ground Operations Wing and a flying training squadron. Knowledgeable on principles, practices, standards and procedures to provide comprehensive women’s health care to a select population of essentially healthy women in a variety of settings to include: obstetrical antepartum, postpartum care, and gynecologic care.

Knowledgeable on growth, development, and pathophysiology of disease processes specific to the obstetrical and gynecological population.

Knowledgeable of a wide range of medical disorders to include sickle cell anemia, diabetes, sexually transmitted diseases, thyroid disorders, hypertension, and cardiac disease amongst others and their potential impact on perinatal outcomes, as well as broad knowledge of normal delivery variations, their complications and required therapeutic interventions.

Knowledge of preventive health maintenance/schedules, ambulatory care procedures, clinical practice guidelines, clinical support staff protocols (CSSPs), and education/teaching methods related to wellness, disease, and/or disability management.

Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, risks/benefits, and complications, in addition to, accurate administration of pharmacologic agents, including dosage calculations as required. Knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of the patient’s condition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow-up care.

Skilled in setting up, operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion pumps, cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, pulse oximetry, suction equipment, nebulizers, fetal heart rate monitors, and other unit specific Identifies and stratifies individual patients and populations of patients across the spectrum of care at risk for chronic diseases and co-morbid conditions; and evaluates the incidence of such conditions from a variety of established databases and facility treatment team referrals.

Collaborates with the physician, nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, or clinical nurse specialist in the health care/education of patients.

Promotes preventive and health maintenance care, to include annual physicals/health assessments, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling of both staff and patient/family

Coordinates patient care through a multidisciplinary continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to the provision of care, quality improvement and cost effectiveness.

Ensures compliance with professional standards of care and practice (i.e., American Nurses Association (ANA), American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), etc.). Adheres to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines, the Department of Defense (DoD) Health Information Privacy Program and DoD/Defense Health Agency (DHA)/Air Force/Military Treatment Facility (MTF) policies, procedures, and guidelines. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.

Conducts patient assessments/evaluations including the determination of optimal location for patient management (e.g., Labor and Delivery Unit, home).

Effectively communicates and collaborates with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the health care team of plans/actions/outcomes, and for teaching/educating the patient/family and organization. Evaluates patient’s health literacy and knowledge of their health condition. Effectively uses appropriate communication format to address professional issues.

Effectively communicates during patient education and telephone triage of patients.

Completes accurate documentation of all patient activities in accordance with unit/medical treatment facility requirements.

Recognizes adverse signs and symptoms and reacts quickly in emergency situations.

Provides patient-centered care that focuses on the needs of the patient. All patients shall be assured of their privacy and personal dignity.

Participates in orientation and training, and validation of skills for newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.

Serves and participates in committees, functions and other meetings as directed. Provides relevant and timely information to these groups, and assists with decision-making and process improvement initiatives. Participates in customer service initiatives designed to enhance health services.

Ensures a safe work environment, employee safe work habits and patient safety IAW regulatory agencies, universal infection control and prevention practices/policies, and process improvement initiatives.

Ensures all equipment is in good working order prior to its use on patients. Properly cleans and stores equipment at the end of each work day.

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree: Bachelors of Science in Nursing.

Education: Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Certifications:Basic Life Support.

Experience:A minimum of 3 years full-time nursing experience is required. Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience in the last 3 calendar years providing services in the women's health arena (i.e. women's health clinic).

Licensure/Registration:Must maintain a full, valid, unrestricted, and current license.

Citizenship:U.S. citizenship – mandatory.

Credentialing:

Ability to pass background check and drug screen.

Current physical and immunizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working with the military population.

Work Location/Hours & Physical Requirements:

Physical Requirements: You will be working in a military treatment facility and must be on the premises to perform the job. The environment is fast-paced and multifaceted, with conditions and duties that can change quickly throughout a shift.

Hours of Performance: The performance hours of the MTF are as follows: Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, no more than 40 hours per week.

Scheduling: The schedule or scheduling process is as follows: Monday-Friday, flexible hours, 0700-1800, not to exceed 40 hours per week. Variations and lunch hour will be coordinated with the duty section.
