Position Overview: Welders ignite torches or starts power supplies and strikes arcs by toughing electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits. Welders may work on job sites or in a shop, assisting with laying, maintaining and repairing pipes. Essential Functions:

Detects faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notifies supervisors

Monitors the fitting, burning and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts of warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials

Examines work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications

Recognizes, set up and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment

Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions

Fabricate/install new parts & components for transport equipment

Operates drill presses, power saws, grinder’s metal lathes and a variety of welding equipment and hand tools

Analyzes plans, drawings, work samples, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of welding assignments

Must be able to lift at least 35-50lbs lbs consistently throughout an 8-hour day
