Job DescriptionA full-time research faculty position exists in the Unmanned Systems Integration Branch in the Robotics and Autonomous Systems Development Division (RASD) with the Aerospace, Transportation, and Advanced Systems Laboratory (ATASL) at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI). The Unmanned Systems Integration Branch focuses on the development, integration, testing, and evaluation of airborne unmanned systems. Systems engineering expertise is applied to sensors, platforms, and integrated systems, with a focus on small unmanned systems. Program areas include small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), Counter UAS systems, and Autonomy Algorithms. Typically, the Unmanned Systems Integration Branch integrates sensors, autopilots, and mission processors into low cost commercially available surrogate platforms for demonstration purposes. Primary sponsors currently come from the US military research and development community.Job DutiesWill be responsible for generating design concepts and preliminary designs, cost estimates, schematic drawings, specifications, final detailed designs, and PCB layout; Purchase materials and components; Coordinate fabrication, assembly, installation, and integration; Set up and conduct experiments; Prepare progress reports, O&M manuals, and design review presentations; Develop white papers and project proposals; Follow designs into the field and participate in Field TestingTravel RequirementsEducation & Length of ExperienceResearch Engineer IA Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.Required Minimum QualificationsCandidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program relevant to this position will be considered.
