Home Caregiver/Health Aide

Seeking a caregiver/home health aide for my 82 year-old mother in a pleasant, home environment in Danby, NY. We are retired and are involved in her care. A positive and compassionate attitude, experience with, or willingness and ability to learn bed to wheelchair transfers and assisting with bathing, toileting, and dressing are required. Other duties include light housecleaning, laundry, simple cooking and helping my mother with meals (she can feed herself but needs things set up for her). She had a stroke a year ago, has lost the use of her right arm and leg, and has expressive aphasia-meaning that she can understand what is said to her but, while having a great sense of humor, has difficulty speaking coherently. You would be part of a team of caregivers who work at different times. Beginning in July, we will need help Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and/or Friday afternoons 2 to 6. We also need every other Saturday morning from 9 to 1 and some Sunday afternoons from 2 to 5 or 6. Looking for someone who can work any or all of these hours.

$20/hour (Mom's current favorite form of entertainment: sitting in the sunroom watching the birds at the bird feeder, along with the squirrels and the chipmunks or going down to sit by the perennial garden.)
