Mary Places works to end homelessness and create communities where all families have safety, stability, and housing. Since 1999, Mary’s Place has helped hundreds of women, men and families move out of homelessness into more stable situations.
Mary’s Place is currently seeking a responsible and motivated Facilities Technician to join our Facilities team. In collaboration with the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Technician supports the facilities team in assisting women and families experiencing homelessness by ensuring our buildings are safe and well maintained.

Key Responsibilities:
Work in partnership with Mary’s Place Facilities Manager and Site Directors to ensure optimal functioning of shelter systems including, but not limited to, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, general carpentry, custodial, locks and hardware, pest control, laundry facilities and security
Perform routine and preventative maintenance to building and systems, including plumbing, electrical, mattresses and bed frames, and all Mary’s Place owned equipment (lawn care equipment, mechanical tools)
Keeps accurate records of all maintenance and repairs
Reports problems/issues to the Facilities Manager, recommends solutions and estimates
Oversees, and assists volunteers providing maintenance services such as cleaning, painting, and landscaping
Supervise contractors and vendors as they relate to maintenance
Set up and take down of special events
Provides snow removal and landscaping as needed
Maintain a calm demeanor and model positive behavior
Communicate regularly with other staff members to ensure consistency
Attends staff meetings
Skills/Qualifications:
Work experience related to project management, vendor management, facilities and/or maintenance
Must have valid Washington driver’s license, own reliable vehicle with current insurance and the ability to travel to all organization locations on demand
Knowledge of plumbing and related repairs
Able to perform basic electrical work and determine when an electrician is needed
Self-motivated possessing a high level of organization
Experience using standard power tools and non-powered tools
Sensitivity to the needs of guests who are homeless, low-income, limited English speaking, or impacted by domestic violence, substance abuse or other barriers to employment
Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed
