Position DescriptionBasic Function: It is the primary responsibility of the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to administer all forms of the respiratory care to patients in accordance with physician orders and most recent clinical standards to patients. Care will include oxygen therapy, administration of therapeutic aerosols, pulmonary clearance techniques, arterial blood gas draws and interpretation, basic spirometry, mechanical ventilation, emergency life support procedures and airway maintenance. The therapist will also be expected to function as a workgroup leader and team leader in the absence of the Lead Therapist and work with patients, families and other healthcare professionals in a manner that supports institutional and department mission, vision and values. Additional responsibilities include air/ground transport of neonatal/pediatric critical care patients from other hospitals.Position RequirementsMinimum Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Skills): Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program with Associates or Baccalaureate Degree and a certification of completion. Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification.Other Requirements: Must have current licensure to practice Respiratory Care in the state of Georgia (RCP). Must be RRT or new grad CRT within one year of graduation. New grads must become RRT by first anniversary of program completion for continued employment. Clinical training in an acute care hospital or prior work experience in this setting. Must be able to provide all modes of respiratory therapy and operate all standard life support equipment. Hospital Information Systems knowledge required.
