CARPENTER / REMODELER (PORTLAND)
Maine, Maine 00000 Maine USA

Vacancy expired!

Portland Renovations, Inc. is a professional design-build construction company that has been in business for over 20 years in Portland. We are seeking a fast paced, competent, skilled carpenter to join our small team. Our simple website demonstrates our work - www.portlandrenovations.com

We are a frame to finish design-build company that specializes in all things modern. We are team oriented and involve everyone in problem solving, design ideas, etc. The end result of our work will be a product that everyone has contributed to.

We are not seeking someone who has simply "been doing this for X years". We are seeking an individual who is passionate about construction, tools of the trade, design, building science and furthers them self by studying construction topics or reading about what is new in the industry. This offer is most definitely not for any individual who is simply looking for a paycheck for the week.

Must have:

1. A positive attitude and a willingness to explore new ways of creating the built world.

2. A clean, presentable, professional appearance.

3. 5-7 years minimum experience in construction / remodeling ; shop experience is a big bonus but not the main focus.

4. His / her own professional tools and reliable transportation.

5. Attention to detail and a full understanding that time is money.

6. This is intended to be your full time occupation, i.e. you do not have other gigs that will interfere with a 5 day work week.

7. If you are in fact a cabinet maker and finisher, this could be a possibility but this is not a position for full time shop work.

We do not install cabinets made by factories. We are a rare company in Portland in that we build everything we install in our shop in Portland from start to finish. We are not a "woodworking" shop though, we leave that type of work to woodworkers who specialize in that field. Our shop is simple yet very well appointed for European style cabinetry construction and finishing.

If you are dissatisfied, frustrated or bored with your current job, do not get paid every week, join our team. We do not offer benefits in the traditional sense, but provide profit sharing on projects should one be responsible for early completion, more efficient methods of working, etc. Basically, if you help the project somehow, you get a bonus.

Additionally, our shop is available for personal use on weekends or after hours if you want to make something for personal use or a little side project.

This position is for a 1099 subcontractor.

Please send either a resume or simply outline your experience in your response. If you have any pictures of work you have completed that would be very helpful.
