Mechanical Engineer Section Manager III

The Raytheon Vision Systems business unit Mechanical Engineering Department is seeking aMechanical Engineer Section Manager III.This position is located inGoleta,California .The Section Manager (SM) will lead a group of approximately 12 engineers and designers performing a variety of design tasks supporting EO/IR detector subsystems, mechanical packaging / CREO modeling and design, production support and technical, analysis (thermal and structural).Products include EO/IR subsystems for tactical airborne, space, and ground operational environments; systems from concept to build and test phases.The Section Manager is responsible for all aspects including: staffing, staff development, training, tool and process development and deployment, administration of performance appraisals, merit increases and promotions, and will be responsible and accountable for the work products produced within the section. The Section Manager must maintain positive customer relationships and satisfaction with IPTLs, other function engineering counterparts and programs. The selected candidate must provide direct engagement with Programs to ensure timely execution of Work Products assigned to staff members including facilitation of personnel and resources to achieve milestones on-time and within allotted budget. They must assists IPTLs with peripheral issues that impede program progress, allowing core staff to concentrate on their Work Products at hand.The Section Manager leads / participates in bidding activities preparing bids, EAC's, Program Gate reviews and independent Peer reviews of all Work Products.The SM performs day-day management duties including program staffing (assigns work), personnel administration, performance and salary merit reviews, timecard authorizations, preparation for and conducting of staff meetings. The SM often needs to work closely with the department Manager, Systems and Electrical Engineering to provide input to bidding activities, e.g. Basis of Estimates (BOEs).The candidate is expected to be a technical leader within the department.Required Skills:10+ years of experience in Mechanical design / electronic packaging; vacuum systems, opto-mechanical design and analysis including leadership rolesWorking knowledge of standard tools for Mechanical design and analysis (CREO, ANSYS) Product data management (PTC Windchill).Demonstrated capability to effectively juggle multiple tasks and prioritiesDemonstrated effective leadership skillsDesired Skills:Knowledge of RVS and Raytheon products, technologies, and processes.In-depth experience with EO/IR products, technologies, and programs.Advocate for process improvement (e.g. CMMI and R6S); team player and able to build strong relationships and effectively partner with internal resources; customer focused.Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance and ability to qualify for additional clearancesMaster's degree in Engineering fieldRequired Education (including Major):Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalentThis position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.164485Raytheon is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
